At The Pawfect Barkery, we started baking our own treats because we wanted something better for our own dogs. Here's what we look for — and what we avoid — when it comes to healthy dog treats.

Look for a short, recognisable ingredients list. If it reads like a chemistry set, put it back.

Avoid added sugar and salt. Dogs don't need either, and both can create long-term health problems.

Skip artificial preservatives. Fresh-baked, small-batch treats don't need them — that's the whole point.
